FROM THE EXACT WORDS FROM KNOLL: When Florence Knoll moved to a seaside home in Florida, she began sending the design team rusty pieces of furniture and requested that they develop something that would perform in the salty climate. Richard Schultz’s response was the aluminum Leisure Collection in 1966. It is regarded as the first collection of truly modern outdoor furniture.
I guess one could say nothing is more iconic for a florida home then the outdoor furniture of Richard Schultz. But who is Richard Schultz? You have seen his pieces almost every where without thought if you live in Florida because he is most notably known for his exterior furniture. The most iconic include the wire mesh chaise, topiary chair, and my own beloved petal table introduced in the 60’s. There is no better choice for a minimal clean line chaise on the exterior of a modern home. In the picture shown the classic lines are bold with a black finish and colorful blue top making them modern minimal and contemporary art in the exterior landscape.
