BEACH MORNING GLORY

I guess I am really not that hard to find these days. I am on a beach, near the beach, or looking at a beach. It’s my happy place where I feel most grounded.  Every morning on my beach run (or if I am being completely honest its more of a brisk walk-jog) I notice these creeping vinelike florals blanketing the sandy areas by the sea wall. The curious little green thumb part of my brain wondered what these purple flowers were, and how have I never really noticed them before? “Alexa, what’s the purple flower growing on the beach?” She didn’t know, but google did.  Turns these wild growing beauties are Beach Morning Glory. I loved geeking out about it, learning that it loves sand, salt, and heat. It’s a perfect Florida beach flower. They are pretty much fool proof too, being drought tolerant. I would plant these along a fence, or wall if you live on the beach or have a relatively drying soil and space for it to sprawl out. Note: it will consume other plants. I read they do propagate, which I have not taken a snip to try that out yet.  Has anyone else out there propagated it?
