THE MUSE

One of the absolute coolest parts of my job is being behind the scenes in projects from start to the very finish. Riding up in an elevator with a hard hat on that opens to a concrete slab with dust covered windows and chalky walls is thrilling. You feel kind of bad ass as you hear the large echo in these spaces envisioning the furniture that will soon be covering the exposed framing and wires. I think watching the time lapse of these spaces doesn’t even begin to help you understand the feeling or attachement a designer, project mananger, or client gets to the spaces during the several different stages. But when the furniture is all set up and the sound of the final run of the vacum is going, the smell of clean sheets, fresh towels, and brand new candles is permeating through the air your brain instinctively thinks back to the dusty space. This particular project in Sunny Isles, FL was a hugely rewarding project for those reasons. Tonight I watched as the photographer angled every shot and each room was staged for it’s debut with such awee and excitement for what was once there and how quickly it transformed. The building, the project, it is all exceptional and an architectural marvel. I hope you check it out.
