I love IKEA.  Scandanavian design is similar to basic bones of the design fondation.  What I like even more is the DIY that have taken the IKEA HACKER world by storm and I am joining right along with them.  I found this project on Sarah Lee Weaver’s blog, A Beautiful Life and got started immediately on the old malm set of drawers that were on their way to the curb.  Besides, the man in my life loves nothing more than a trip to the hardware store- it is our shared toy store.  If only I can get him to enjoy Target with me too ;-).

The Malm drawers were black, so I lightly sanded and primed the drawers and frame and brought them brand new life with a bright white paint and finished them with a lacquer coat to make appear richer and smooth. After adding the hardware to the corners and drawer pulls from House of ANtique Hardware these simple drawers now have character.   FInd a piece in your house to give new life and make it a conversation piece.
